Water-Babies (Combined Level 1 & 2)
Water-Babies is a gentle, teacher-led introduction to the water for babies and toddlers and their parents or caregivers, including those with little or no previous swimming experience. This class supports children as they progress from early water familiarisation to growing confidence and independence in the aquatic environment.
Through play-based activities, familiar songs, guided holds, and sensory exploration with toys, little ones develop comfort in the water while building essential motor skills and early safety awareness. As confidence increases, sessions introduce structured movements such as paddling, kicking, supported submerging, and guided skill development, all designed to strengthen coordination and reinforce basic water safety practices.
Parents and caregivers are supported throughout the class with safe handling techniques and clear guidance, creating a positive, nurturing environment that encourages active participation, learning, and special bonding time in the water.
Important:
All children under 3 years of age are required to wear an approved swim nappy/diaper while participating in Water-Babies and Tadpoles classes. Swim diapers are specifically designed to prevent the leakage of solid waste into the water. Children will not be permitted to join the class without one.
09:00-09:30 - 30 minutes
Tadpoles is designed for confident toddlers who are comfortable in the water, can hold onto the wall, and are able to follow simple instructions. This class builds on basic water skills and focuses on strengthening paddling and kicking, improving coordination, and developing independent submerging skills.
Parents continue to support their child in the water while encouraging greater independence and safety awareness. Older Tadpoles will begin preparing for the transition to the unassisted Guppies 1 class.
